Patrick Martin Stumph (born April 27, 1984), known professionally as Patrick Vaughn Stump,[10] [eleven] is an American musician, vocalizer, and songwriter. He is the lead vocalizer and rhythm guitarist of the rock band Fall Out Male child, originally from Wilmette, Illinois.[7]

Early on life

Stump was born in Evanston, Illinois[16] to David, a folk singer, and Patricia (née Vaughn) Stumph, an accountant.[17] He is the youngest of three children.[18] He grew up in Glenview, Illinois and attended Glenbrook South High School.[xix] His parents divorced when he was eight years old.[xviii] He grew up with a passion for music, subsequently stating, "I was always playing music... it was e'er kind of present."[xx] He originally played the drums in various local Chicago power violence and hardcore punk bands,[21] including Public Display Of Infection, Xgrinding processX, Patterson,[22] and, for 2 shows, Arma Angelus.[23] His musical idols growing up included Michael Jackson, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, and Nat Rex Cole.[24]

Career

Fall Out Boy (2001–2009; 2013–nowadays)

Fall Out Boy's founding guitarist Joe Trohman met Stump over a common musical interest, and introduced Stump to bassist Pete Wentz.
